Where compassion began with one child and grew into a home filled with hope.
Huis Talje's story began in 1999, inspired by one deeply moving event. When a two-year-old boy, severely abused and left with both mental and physical disabilities, had nowhere safe to go, the local community came together in compassion.
On 1 September 1999, Huis Talje opened its doors, founded through the guidance of the Department of Health and Social Development as a home for children with severe intellectual and physical disabilities.
While the government provides a subsidy of R6 000 per child per month, Huis Talje's monthly running costs total R399 915.90. The continued generosity of donors, volunteers, and the wider community makes it possible for Huis Talje to remain a true home of care, warmth, and hope.
The net proceeds of every raffle - what’s left after the prize and the costs of running it - go to the cause it supports, through Win For Good NPC.
