Everything you might want to know before you buy a ticket.
What is Win For Good?
A fundraising initiative by Win For Good NPC, a registered non-profit company. We run online raffles for great prizes, and the money raised goes to the good cause each raffle names. You get a real shot at something you’d love; the proceeds do real good.
How do the raffles work?
Each raffle has a fixed number of tickets at a set price. You buy as many as you like, up to the per-person limit. Entries close on the closing date, and the draw is on the draw date shown on the raffle page and your ticket - 3 minutes after entries close, unless a later date is given. If every ticket sells first, sales stop, but the draw stays on its date. Public randomness decides the winning ticket. Every raffle shows the prize, its value, the cause it supports, how many tickets are left and its closing date.
How is the winner chosen - can it be rigged?
No. The winner is decided by drand, a public randomness beacon run by an independent group of organisations, combined with a seed we seal before entries open. After each draw we publish the full calculation, and your browser can check it with one click. See how it works.
What if a raffle doesn’t sell out? Can the date change?
If not enough tickets have sold, we can postpone the closing date - and the draw with it - before that date arrives, to give the raffle more time. The new date is shown on the raffle page and emailed to everyone holding a ticket, and every ticket stays valid and in the draw. Otherwise entries close on the closing date and the winner is picked from the tickets that were sold. Tickets are never refunded or moved to another raffle.
Can I get a refund or move my tickets?
Tickets can’t be refunded or moved to another raffle. Please check how many tickets you’ve chosen before you pay. Read the refund and cancellation policy.
Is this legal, and who checks it?
Yes. Win For Good NPC is registered with the National Lotteries Commission (no. 00570) to run raffles as a society lottery under the Lotteries Act 57 of 1997. The rules are strict: every ticket costs the same, the net proceeds go to the good cause, each raffle has limits on ticket sales and prizes, and after every draw we report the figures to the Commission. You must be 18 or older to buy a ticket. Read the full raffle rules.
How do I pay?
Securely through Paystack, a South African payment provider. Your tickets are issued the moment your payment is confirmed, and we email your ticket numbers to you.
Is there a limit on how many tickets I can buy?
A raffle can limit how many tickets one person may buy; the limit is shown on its page.
How will I know if I’ve won?
We email the winner as soon as we’ve checked and published the result, at the address used to buy the ticket, and phone them if they gave a number. The winning ticket number is published on the Winners page. We publish the winning ticket number, not the winner’s name.
Where does the money go?
The net proceeds of every raffle - what’s left after the prize and the costs of running it - go to the cause it supports, through Win For Good NPC. The cause is shown up front on each raffle, so you always know what your ticket supports. A ticket is a chance to win, not a donation, so it doesn’t qualify for a section 18A tax certificate.
Can I donate without buying a ticket?
Yes - donate here, by card from South Africa or anywhere else, any amount from R20. Win For Good NPC gives it to the cause that needs it most, and you get a receipt by email. A donation isn’t a raffle ticket: it doesn’t enter you into any raffle or draw.
